Sign in & guest mode
The sign-in screen is the first thing the E-BON Android app shows when you launch it and no one is signed in. You have two ways through it: sign in with the same email and password you use on app.e-bon.ro, or tap Continue as Guest to open a temporary session that lets you look around the app without touching any real data.
There is no third option today: no Sign in with Google, no Sign in with Apple, no fingerprint or PIN, no "Forgot password" link, no two-factor prompt. The screen shows the E-BON wordmark, the Motor Fiscal subtitle, two text fields, two buttons, and one info line in the footer — that is the whole screen.
Sign in with email and password
Type your email and password into the two fields and tap Sign In. While the request is running, the button shows a small spinner and both fields lock so a double-tap can't fire two requests at once.
The credentials you enter here are the same Portal account you use at app.e-bon.ro. There is no separate app account to register, no second password to remember, and no signup screen inside the app. The footer line on the screen makes that explicit:
app.e-bon.ro and the same email and password sign you in here.Continue as Guest
Tap Continue as Guest to open the app with a temporary, anonymous session tied to this install. No email is collected, no password is set, and the app drops straight into the main tabs.
What guest mode is good for: walking through the app, opening every tab, reading the screens in Romanian or English, taking screenshots, or trying the app while you wait for a Portal account to be ready. What it is not good for: anything you actually want to keep. As soon as you have a real account, sign out and sign back in with email — or use the Upgrade flow in Settings to attach an email and password to your existing guest session and keep what you already have on the device.
Sign out
There is no sign-out button on this screen. Sign-out lives in the Settings tab, on the row of the same name. After you sign out, the app sends you back to this screen, and the next launch lands here too. The full sign-out flow, including the confirmation dialog, is documented in App settings & location switching.
Common error messages
When sign-in fails, a red banner appears above the form with the exact message returned by the authentication service. The banner clears automatically the moment you leave the screen and come back, or when you tap Sign In again.
The most common errors and what they mean:
- Invalid email — the value in the email field is not a valid email address. Check for stray spaces or a missing
@. Leading and trailing spaces are trimmed for you, but typos likeme@@e-bon.roorme.e-bon.rowill still trigger this. - Wrong password — the email is recognised but the password is wrong. Try again carefully. There is no "Forgot password?" link in the app, so password resets must be done from the Portal.
- User not found — there is no account for this email. Either the address is mistyped or the Portal account hasn't been created yet — open
app.e-bon.roand finish onboarding first. - Network request failed — the device can't reach the network at all. Check Wi-Fi or mobile data and try again. Once you're back online, the same Sign In tap works without any extra step.
- Too many requests — too many failed attempts in a row. Wait a minute and try again.
- User disabled — the account exists but has been disabled by an administrator. Contact your organisation owner.
Where to next
A successful sign-in does not drop you straight onto the home tab. The app first needs to know which physical location this device serves — which printer it will drive and which device it will follow.
Pick a location
Right after sign-in the app sends you to the Location Selection screen, where you tap the location this device belongs to. Organisations with a single location auto-select after a short delay. The full picker is described in Installing on Android — Pick a location, and the upstream list is managed from the Portal under Manage locations.
Land on Home
Once you've picked a location, the app drops onto the Home tab and the four bottom tabs (Home, Devices, Receipts, Settings) become live. From here the rest of the docs takes over — start with Home.
Receipts tab — history, preview, print
The standalone Receipts bottom-tab in the E-BON Android app — a chronological history of every issued receipt, the per-receipt preview & print screen, and the standalone New Receipt entry point.
Manual Connect
Add a fiscal printer by hand when auto-discovery cannot find it. Pick the protocol and transport, enter the connection details, and save the device.
